Our History
Wag School Books hasn't been around for long, but we think we have already made a difference. Recognising the need for affordable and accessible dog training and behaviour books in Australia, Wag School Books was launched in October 2008 at the APDT Annual Conference Trade Show in Sydney.
The aim when establishing our business was to offer items by the most well-respected and popular authors, such as Nicole Wilde (we are thrilled that Nicole asked us to be her Australian distributors!), Patricia McConnell, Jean Donaldson and Pat Miller, while keeping prices as low as possible and providing outstanding customer service.
Our monthly e-Newsletter keeps subscribers up-to-date with the latest releases and special offers.
Our People
Sue Bailey
Manager, Sales & Marketing
Sue has been training dogs for over 15 years starting with the arrival of Maxi, an exuberant black Labrador puppy. It was a steep learning curve, but provided a wonderful opportunity to learn an incredible amount about training and behaviour (both dogs and people!), and the important role that pet dogs play in not only our lives but society generally.
Through her training business, Wag School, Sue has helped hundreds of owners train their dogs to be well mannered, sociable and happy companions. She was also a volunteer instructor at the Western Suburbs Dog Training Club for many years, and attends the Club when time permits.
Sue is a Delta Society Accredited Dog Behavioural Trainer (Certificate IV) and a member of the Delta Professional Dog Trainers' Association. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia and has served on the APDT Committee since 2003, currently holding the position of Conference Co-ordinator. She is also a member of APDT USA. Sue has a background in office management and administration, and has enjoyed reading books all her life. She is a Justice of the Peace (NSW) and holds a St Johns Senior First Aid Certificate.
Lyn Hynds
Manager, Finance
Lyn has been training dogs for over 10 years after attending puppy pre-school with her Peke Mickey. Her previous Peke had been shy of other dogs, so she wanted Mickey to have every chance at early socialisation. They both enjoyed the experience so much, they continued their training with the Western Suburb Dog Training Club, which led to Lyn becoming a volunteer instructor at the Club and an Assistant Instructor with Wag School.
Lyn has a Degree in Science, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment and has 19 years teaching experience at TAFE in Sydney. Due to her science background, Lyn has a particular interest in the science of dogs and dog training. She loves reading research in this area and is keen to have the latest books available in Australia through Wag School Books.
Lyn is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia and has held the position of Treasurer of APDT Australia for 7 years She is also a member of APDT USA.
